If this had been Microsoft coming into control of the MySQL platform, I would imagine the uproar in the press would be significantly more profound. Personally, I actually trust Oracle less to not squash MySQL into nothingness. Oracle has always had the most to lose in a world where MySQL reaches full maturity and acceptance.
